Short-Term Effects:

There is also a short stimulation to the brain and nervous system. Some people use smoking as a way to control weight because it can occaisonally reduce appetite. Other signs can include bad breath, stained teeth, coughing, loss of taste and smell, your immune system can weaken causing more colds and flus, reduced fertility for women, skin can sometimes become oddly colored. There are simply no positive effects of smoking.

Long-Term Effects:
  • external image effects.jpgLung cancer is by far the most common disease for long-term somkers. Other common cancers include mouth, larynx, tongue and skin. Later research has shown that kidney, bladder, cervix and breast cancers are also common with long-term smokers. COPD stands for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, which ranges from a very mild case of bronchitis, to more severe cases. Emphysema is were the air sacs in your lungs collapse and theres nowhere for the oxygen to come and go. This ends with a person basically smothering to death. More less serious effects include permanent nasal congestion, coughing, vision problems, gum disease.

Short and Long Term Effects of Smoking
Smoking effects, many parts of the body and it effects both long and short term effects. Below are some of the effects o some of the body.
Circulatory System:Short term- the circularory system is adversely affected nearly immediately after your external image introtocircman.giffirst puff of the cigarette. Smoking raises your heart rate. Increases blood pressure, decreases blood flow and not enough oxygen can also cause fat or cholesterol deposits in the blood vessels.
Long term- over time the short term effects can really take their toll on your body. You are twice as likely to have coronary heart disease, hardening of the arteries in the brain. Arteriosclerosis and peripheral artery disease due to long-term restirectons.


Respiratory System:Short term- the day you take your first drag of a cigarette you will notice the external image respiratorydetail.gifshort term effects of smoking on the repiratory system. You may experience coughing, irritation of the eyes, nose or throat and have trouble breathing. Smoking can also irritate any allergies you may presently have.
Long term- the real bad stuff comes from long-term cigarette smoking, especially when you are talking about the repiratory system. You may experience infections, cough or cancer of the larynx and your chances of suffering the following are doubled for those who smoke:
• Lung cancer
• Chronic bronchitis
• Emphysema
• Shortness of breath
These effects of smoking are very serious whether you are talking about long ir short term. If you quit smoking now your body can begin to heal itself.
